Barbara Alby, on California PropositionsProposition 19: (Marijuana legalization.) I oppose Prop 19. The liberals are poised to tax this if it is passed and I would oppose that also. I oppose all sin taxes! If you want to sin do it on your own time! Don’t use it for an excuse to build bigger government for the rest of us to bear. Proposition 20: (This would allow the independent State Commission on Redistricting to re-draw the Congressional Districts in the same manner as they are already authorized by Proposition 11 to re-draw the Legislative District boundaries.) I support Prop 20. If we would have had a fair redraw of Congressionals in 2001, we would have more competitive legislative districts today. Don’t let the legislature draw one boundary. They have a huge conflict of interest. Proposition 21: (This would increase the Vehicle License Fee by $18, but in return taxpayers would allegedly receive free parking at state parks, at least until the Democrats find some other way to tax people who seek to use public parks.) I oppose Prop 21. If you want to visit one of our beautiful parks. Pay for it yourself. Proposition 22: (Redevelopment used to be used to fight blight. It has become a means to rob us of our private property rights) I oppose Prop 22. Proposition 23: (This is the California Jobs Initiative to suspend AB 32.) Absolutely YES! Proposition 24: (This is a $2 billion tax increase aimed at businesses, which are already struggling to stay in business without leaving California.) Absolutely NO! Proposition 25: (This initiative would eliminate the two-thirds vote requirement for passage of the state budget and it would cause legislators to forfeit their salaries and travel allowances if the budget is not adopted by June 15 each year. Although the ballot summary claims that it would leave the current 2/3rds requirement for tax increases unchanged, the text of the amendment itself makes it certain the liberals could increase taxes by a majority vote, too) I oppose Prop 25. Proposition 26: (Requires a two-thirds vote for certain fee increases. This initiative fixes the damage done by the California Supreme Court in the infamous Sinclair Paint case.) I support Prop 26 Proposition 27: (Eliminates the independent State Commission on Redistricting.) If this passes it would let legislators once again draw their own district boundaries. I absolutely positively say NO on Prop 27! |
